But from all accounts it seems as if Obama actually thought he won that night. I'm still miffed by this premise but knowing the utter arrogance of Obama I shouldn't be surprised. Obama could barely stand to look at Romney during the debate. It was evident that the sheer idea of standing on the stage with the man who is the epitome of everything Obama abhors was visibly painful for the President.
Think about it. Mitt Romney is wealthy and white. What have we seen from the Obama campaign? It's been nothing but non-stop class warfare and vilification of job creators. Mitt Romney is in fact the embodiment of everything Obama's hates. It must have been so very painful to stand mere feet away from him!
So here we are on the precipace of part deux of the three part Romney-Obama Trilogy as the President continues to try and hold onto his "precious" much like Gollum did in "Lord of the Rings." Dennis Kucinich would be a much better Gollum (the similarities are astounding) but I digress...
Imagine yourself, if you will, being Obama. You thought you had won the first debate merely because you thought everyone else could just feel your disdain of Romney and that would suffice. But as soon as you see your wife she gives you the evil eye and verbal smackdown that you blew it. Then stew on that for two weeks.
A fire has been brewing in Barack Obama for two weeks. He not only lost the first debate, he saw the largest swing of voters in history after a debate. Independents and some democrats went running to the Romney camp. A few Democrat friends of mine posted on their facebook pages that their choice had been made clear within minutes of the debate ending and it wasn't for Obama.
The question remains: which Obama will come out on the stage tonight? He will be prepared but without a teleprompter I wonder if a measured, thoughtful Obama appears or will his inner Gollum come out enraged with his "precious" being taken away? Will the mask come off tonight to reveal who Obama truly is? One can only hope.
